WATER
THE FORGOTTEN RULE
TO GOOD FISH KEEPING.
The following information has been
put together for the benefit of all fish keepers, from the novice,
through to the more experienced fish keepers amongst us. It has
been written in a very easy to understand way in the hope that everyone
finds it easy to read without getting bogged down with too much
technical jargon. The sole intention of this article is to pass
onto as many people as possible the importance of having and maintaining
good quality water that is correctly balanced and suited for the
fish that have to live in it.
Set out in three parts, the first
deals with the Biological filtration side of water quality. Explaining
from the start how a Biological filter works, right through to what
can happen if it doesn't work and if it isn't maintained on a regular
basis.
In the second part, we take a comprehensive
look at the equally important chemical make up of water, explaining
in a basic way what the various expressions and terms actually mean
and do. We then go on to explain how the various components interact
and can affect each other to build up a complete picture that is
made up of the many factors that affect the chemistry side of water
quality.
In the third part we have a troubleshooting
section that contains the answers to many questions and problems
that are associated with water quality and chemistry. If you have
a problem or question it is hoped that you will find the answer
in this section.
