INFORMATION SHEET

To get the best results from this water the following simple rules and basic instructions should be read and followed.

RULE 1.

The one thing this water will not do is get you away from the fact that water changing and filter maintenance must be carried out on a REGULAR weekly basis. Dirty or clogged filters do not function efficiently and can result in a breakdown of the biological filtration process. This can lead to toxic levels of Ammonia and Nitrite appearing in your tanks or holding systems.

RULE 2.

You will still have to test the water in your tanks or fish systems to be sure the correct chemistry levels are been maintained. Different stock levels and sizes of fish put differing loads on the chemistry balance that exists in the tanks. Weekly readings of pH, GH, KH, Nitrite and Ammonia will indicate if all is OK. A reading of Nitrate (No3) should also be taken, this will indicate if Point 1. below is sufficient. An increasing No3 level indicates not enough water is been changed. Regular testing will show any problems developing and so action can be taken to avoid them getting out of hand.

POINT 1.

We recommend a minimum 10% water change every week using XOTIC's premade water, and also use it for any topping up that may be required. A Nitrate level of 25ppm or less can EASILY be maintained using this water. However a lack of water changing can result in a build up of Nitrate levels, the trace elements in the water can becoming depleted and in extreme cases a serious reduction in the chemistry balance can result in a severe pH drop. All of these symptoms can and should be avoided by doing adequate water changes.

POINT 2.

Always warm the water to the desired temperature BEFORE adding it to your tanks. A Sudden drop in temperature is a major stress factor for your fish and should b avoided.

POINT 3.

This water is for Fish Keeping and NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION.

POINT 4.

Everything your fish need is in this water. To get the full benefit of this water it should be used as instructed over leaf and not mixed or diluted with water from other sources.

POINT 5.

Our Standard mix of water we supply is intended to be used for the majority of community freshwater Tropical fish. Variations of this mix for use with Guppies, Mollies, Brackish water fish, Sth. American Species or other specialist uses are available, including a special mix for Coldwater fish. All these different mixes are listed on our stock lists.
